Kitten food
Kittens grow at an incredible rate. A kitten does the majority of his growing in the first year making the nutrition during first year critical. A baby cat needs high quantities of fat and protein for proper development.
Kitten food has a high fat content so that the kitten can develop adequate fat stores. The protein content is also high because protein is the building blocks for most structures in their bodies. Cats don’t use carbohydrates for energy like humans do; their energy is derived solely from fats and proteins.
Kitten food also has high levels of calcium for bone and teeth health. Calcium helps build strong teeth and bones in both humans and cats. Calcium also plays an important role in muscle development. A good kitten food will have plenty of protein and fat; this means that it will not be appropriate for adult cats. Adult cats that ingest kitten food will get too much fat and can easily be overweight.
